My brain tends to work overtime -- (most of the time)

So many things I have been seeing lately, scares me a bit, not scares me for me, but scares me for them. I'm actually amazed -- in that I never thought I would ever see some of the things that have come to pass.

Things that come to mind lately --

1. Nothing, and I mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is worth losing out on Heaven and eternal life.

2. NOTHING. Nil. Zip. Zero. 0!

3. If something was wrong 20 years ago, (or even 2 or 200 for that matter) it is STILL wrong today.

4. Life will never be perfect.

5. And its definitely not fair. (At least in our eyes) But there's so much more to this...

6. People have it way worse than I do -- way worse than I've ever had.

7. Way worse than you too!

8. If you can't share something with other "Christians" --then something just might be wrong.

9. And if the reason you are not sharing it is because you feel they will judge you, its probably because you already feel convicted of it. Might be time to rearrange our thinking...

10. Especially if its shared with "worldly" friends.

11. Never take advice from the world -- especially if its anything that goes against what you've always known to be right. They do not have your best interest in mind, nor what Christ probably has in mind.

12. Don't have your kids involved in 90% of worldly things and 10% church.

13. You make 1 (just one) compromise and its like a domino effect, (affect?) it all goes downhill from there and there's no way to pick up the pieces without starting all over from the very beginning again. And by that time you are so weary that you never begin again ... and all is lost.

14. Pray and seek God in ALL things. E.V.E.R.Y. S.I.N.G.L.E D.A.Y.

15. If you don't know what do, refer to No. 14 and then WAIT.

16. No matter how much you blame someone else -- and what they've done to make you do something. That is just so wrong. Had a recent conversation with hub about this -- sorry, he or she can't make me do anything. I do it because I want to. The blame starts with that image in the mirror. Mine and your own.

17. We all need to get off our self-righetous horses ...its not a pretty sight. Because if we don't -- when we fall and make NO mistake, we will fall -- it will be HARD.

18. God puts things in our life for a reason. Sometimes He just tests us -- and hopes we don't fail, but more often than not, we do.

19. Take time to enjoy life -- the simple things. Fresh air, sunshine and the company of family/friends.

20. Questions?? -- refer to No. 14, and then 15~

21. I've heard people say that if they'd known how nice it is to be a grandparent, they'd have done that first. They are so right.

So thankful to the Lord for keeping them safe. Christian had some issues and had to stay in the NICU, was on oxygen and CPAP for a day but is now home with his mommy and daddy.

And people are right, you should have grandchildren FIRST, so exciting. We're ALL already so much in love with this little guy.

God is good.

Due to her medical condition -- its been a somewhat high risk pregnancy/delivery/baby!

God has had His hand on them thus far ... and Lexi was prayed for a few months back and God fell SO STRONG, you couldn't help but know He is in it.

Sometimes the flesh is a little weak .... Josh's faith is strong.

Arrival Date Scheduled for 21 March 2011

It is a planned delivery and she will have to stay .... its not a 24 hour kick you out kind of stay.

Green Chile Lime Soup

I made this the other night, and it is SO GOOD. Of course I didn't have all the lime juice nor the cilantro, but I did have a can of Rotel with lime juice and I used that. I think it would have been just a bit better had I added more lime, but it was still great!!!

GO MAKE THIS!

Green Chile Chicken and Lime Soup

Green Chili Chicken and Lime Soup

2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves fresh or roasted garlic, minced (I used a jar of roasted garlic, it was phenomenal!)
80 oz chicken broth, 2 1/2 cartons of the 32 oz
10 oz can rotel tomatoes, mild
7 oz can diced green chilies
4 medium boneless skinless chicken breasts; cooked, shredded and lightly seasoned with salt and pepper
2 1/2 Cups cooked rice of choice, I used basmati
1/4 Cup fresh lime juice
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
Pinches of Kosher salt, fresh cracked black pepper and Lawry’s Garlic Salt with Parsley to taste
1 bunch of fresh cilantro, chopped
Fresh diced avocados, drizzled with lime juice
1 Cup shredded cheddar cheese
Tortilla chips
1. Place oil into a large dutch oven over medium heat. Saute onion for 5 minutes then add in garlic; cook for 1 minute. Stir in chicken broth, tomtoes, green chilies, chicken breast, rice, lime juice and seasonings. Cook for 5 minutes; taste and season according to your liking. Right before serving add chopped cilantro.
2. Serve soup with fresh diced avocado, shredded cheese and crushed chips if desired. If you can handle the heat, squeeze some Siracha over top, yum!!
10-12 servings

Taking a short break from my usual Christmas Eve madness/rush in the kitchen to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Thanks for reading and praying ... thankful to reach the age of 45 tomorrow ... trying to make the most out of life.

Last week, my sister-n-law left this world leaving behind two children and a husband that loved her very much. A two year battle with cancer (I think uterine? -- in there anyway) We were battling at the same time, and sadly never got to know each other well - except in spirit. We were fighting the same fight -- struggling here a bit with just "all of it" -- but God has been gracious enough to grant me more time ... to Him be the glory.

I will share a story next week that my husband shared me with about his brother and his love. Get tissues ready!

Now without any small children in the house, Christmas is being established in a new way, having to share with in laws and such ... Stephen working Christmas Day this year -- if you know me I need a plan, still trying to figure out that one. A new grandbaby next Christmas will lighten things up a bit!! So excited!!

He even has a facebook page already (huge eyeroll) thanks to my son! Silly.

Another new recent favorite ... the Lord has been speaking to me through music much in the last few weeks. We were able to see him in concert a couple of weeks ago too! We have a few more to attend in the next two months.

Life has seemed to be a long, perpetual, continuous trial ... thankfully I have the Lord to depend on, not sure how people do it who have no faith, no hope ...

I've recently been done wrong (at least to me) by Christians. Ones who profess quite vocally ... the sad part? If I had not already had a walk with Jesus Christ, after recent events, I seriously doubt I would even desire to be one. What's worse, is that unbelievers have mentioned to me and asked me, how they can do that being a Christian. We're human -- we're not perfect. In a way now, I can "see" why some people are so turned off by "so-called Christians". Definitely doesn't mean we have take the blows time and time again ... you don't have to take abuse from people without sticking up for yourself. You just have to take care of it in the right way. Honesty is probably always best and bringing it out into the open...and letting them know. What they do with it from there, is their problem.

Lord have mercy on my soul -- if I ever have that type of impact on someone ... its made me more aware of every word spoken or action taken ...

Busy November -- hospital stay for Stephen, work trip to Texas, hopefully trip to Texas for wedding ... and lots of work due to losing two people in my section. Oh, and its that time of year again -- total PET Scan on 15 November ... sigh. In Jesus Name all will be clear.

Kansas City been having something called "The Sound Movement" -- having a sound mind, body and spirit and have been giving concerts every week this month, we've been to 2 thus far -- Roy and I went to the first, Josh, Lexi, Sarai and I went to the 2nd -- in which this band played. I like this type of music, love the song.
There was also a new group called Finding Favour -- and I wish now I grabbed the $5.00 CD -- I really enjoyed them. Rush of Fools also played -- which Josh liked.

Tonight -- Switchfoot is playing, but I gave my tickets to Stephen, since Roy had to work and Sarai was sick. I will admit not knowing much about them.

Next up is Matthew West and then Tenth Avenue North. Super excited, I love concerts and plays -- in person events like that. Did I mention how cheap the tickets were? That was the whole point -- it is an outreach to the community. Thursday's show are love offering only. Problem is I thought the shows were all on Thursdays -- well half of them are but the next two are not and Roy works. I really do not want to go alone -- Josh wants to go to Tenth Avenue North but what about Matthew West, wanna go? LOL I've got the tickets already. -0)

Downhere also has a great Christmas song called How Many Kings which they sang Thursday night -- went to get the CD at the Christian Book store today -- no luck.

Two sisters in our church just came back from a missions trip to Uganda -- one sister shared this with the church -- its profound.

Sometimes silence is a good thing.

I'm alive. I realized my blog is read but some who I would prefer did not read it. I knew this but when the times get tough or frustrating -- I normally let my feelings flow freely here as a release.

We are going to be grandparents!   While a little earlier than anyone expected or planned -- God is in full control and always has been. I can already hear the judgers about it -- I guess they know God's plans better than He does....

Struggling a bit at work. To say it is no longer a joy to go to the office every day is an understatement.
They have decided to make some changes -- all in the name of what, is beyond me. We'll see what comes next ...God always does things way better than we can anyway... we shall see.

Headed to see the surgeon shortly -- and I need to make a decision on that.   I guess I could wait but I need a break from this place and wonder if it will be worth the pain ???

Life is going on -- another new season of life .... but not a horrific one -- just changes.

Made some new friends.

Heading east in the fall for a visit with old and new friends -- and perhaps hitting the Pacific Northwest in the Spring. Something to look forward to .... then a new baby. I hope they keep it a secret, its more funner that way.

That baby is going to be SPOILED ROTTEN. Plus he/she will have a handful of grandmas. I know how to be a great grandma, I had a good example .... my mom.

Thought I would take a moment to check in ... its been a rough few weeks.

Michelle needs some constant -- it's like its one new season of life after another this past year.

I go to the hospital on May 21st for a PET Scan.

Believing and trusting God for it to be clear -- it's really all I have.   Appreciate the prayers.
I've started stressing already ... and I have over 15 days to go ... then I go see Dr. S on the 27th for results.
(deep breath)

Stephen has been working almost every evening and hub doesn't get home till about 8pm.   Needless to say the house has been VERY quiet.    I'm adjusting. One of the main problems I have is meals ... no need for dinner that late. So, we'll see ....

Stephen has an appointment at KU on Tuesday morning, and then graduates on Saturday.
So glad I don't have to deal with the whole high school thing anymore-- college is so different.

Might I add, please don't ask me "when I am having surgery" -- I am all too aware of what I lost -- it really doesn't bother me until someone asks me, which makes me think they are trying to "picture" what i don't have it or something triggers when looking at me. Please, just give me a small break.   Please don't ask me how I am -- or how the cancer is -- I thought you believed God healed me. At least that's what you say one minute.

I think I need to move .... just to have people who don't know me. Oh, and my hair is LONG, its not been cut and just because it isn't as long as yours doesn't mean that I have done something wrong. Or I am not in the right according to "our standards"   God knows that I never laid a scissor to my hair, never pulled it out ... but of course it had to come out.   I'm sorry that the prayers were never answered regarding losing it, but I actually never lost all of it. I didn't want to lose my hair -- for many reasons -- and to be honest later on after losing it, I didn't want to deal with those who would judge me for the decisions we made.

You can't know what you would do unless you walk the same path and are faced with the very same decisions as someone. I can think all I want to about what I would do .... but unless I am faced with it, I don't know.

I seriously thought 'all the drama' was over -- I want to go on and live my life and do the very best for God that I can. I want to make my life count -- which was my prayer this morning. I am no hero, I am scared -- I'm a tad weary -- but my strength truly comes from Him.

Ok -- enough of that. Can they just give me a break??   Their words need to stop at their brain before they leave their mouth.

Let's go on and live life, live for the Lord and follow the paths He has for us...in harmony.

Tonganoxie High School -- lost one of their Seniors last night. They lost Jeremy a few months back and a teacher as well. That's three just this school year.

Connor Olson, Tonganoxie student who bravely battled cancer, dies at 18

Please remember their family in prayer -- he has younger siblings as well.

Stephen said school was like a tomb. They had the Chieftain room ready for students to come and talk and get help that they needed. They were at the school last night after he passed away ... he was a tough kid.

Please say some prayers for Stephen -- Connor was his bestest buddy for most of junior high -- but drifted apart in high school. Doesn't make the hurt any less.

Then Sarai called me and asked me when my next scan was. Uh, in May. Scheduled for another PET Scan.
I guess she had a dream. It has really been a totally stinky day. Pray for a cure for this terrible, terrible disease.

Laid to rest a tiny baby goat - "Little One"

Josh and Lexi are moving into their own home.

While I will miss my son and am definitely experiencing the empty nest syndrome -- it's not all that bad.
It's hard to live with another female ... especially one who .... (and you can think what you want ...)

I am thankful for the Healing the Lord gave me.

And for all your prayers.

God is good and He gets all the glory.

Easter Week -- I've been playing Farmville on Facebook, since a little before Christmas. I'm not a veteran farmer -- some people have amazing farms -- I get tired of it and go back to Cafe World - and then I get suckered in by eggs ... they are Easter Eggs by the way, NOT Spring Eggs. How dumb.

The kids should close on their house on Wednesday. Then busy season will kick in -- lots of painting and cleaning and move and organizing. Then I get to get my house straightened up when all their stuff leaves!! They will be missed, but I am glad for them. God is blessing them amazingly.

Monday -- Vegetable Beef Soup (it's made, it just didn't get eaten....)

We had a bunch of snow over the weekend, one of my bosses totalled his truck ... thankfully no one was hurt, but the truck didn't fare as well.

I haven't been feeling that great -- hate that -- makes my mind work overtime.

I am keeping my trust and faith in the Lord. Even if I have to remind myself of this twenty times a day.

Please pray for me ... I am getting weary ... pray for the house closing -- the mortgage company needs to get with the program to meet the auction companie's requests.

It's been a crazy Monday -- the poor kids are scrambling to get paperwork for the mortgage company -- why do they always wait till the very last??

They want a copy of a cashed check, PLUS a letter from the bank having the name on the account, the account number, the amount of the check and what date it cleared, signed by a bank representative on bank letterhead. They are going to think we've lost it.

Quiet weekend, Roy started his new job today -- and he is sick --and his first mission? Was to drive up to Atchison (his old work) to deliver miss delivered mail. LOL. Too funny.

This was taken of Bandit last night -- he was back up on his feet. We checked him late at night and he was on his feet, this morning, not so. It ended up being a cold and wet day here. Not good for goats, especially ones that aren't well. I found him laying in the rain -- Josh helped me wrap him in a blanket and we brought him inside. Dried him off somewhat, put him near a heater and syringed some fluids down him.

I thought he might be in pain -- I didn't want to be selfish and have him suffer, I asked the Lord to take him if he was. Hub came home and went right to him, he died a little while later. Safe in his daddy's arms.

Hub took it a little hard. He went out and dug a hole to bury him.

(This is the FIRST goat he has done that for)

Josh and I wrapped him in the blanket very gently -- and hub put him to rest.

Sad day. Glad he isn't hurting anymore.

But he will DEFINITELY be missed.

He was going to stay with us until he grew old.

The rest of the ladies last night ... with a few boys thrown in the mix.

Hub took the dogs and went to bed.

If you would, say a prayer for him, that his heart would be comforted.

It was a beautiful weekend weather wise -- I think we have rain on the horizon .... the ground is soaked already, we really do not need more right now.

Lexi and I took ALL the animals to the vet on Saturday. That was an ADVENTURE.

We found out Cloud is actually a BOY. I told them, but they wouldn't listen ... yeah.   A BOY.

Later that evening, Lexi brought Trixi downstairs and asked me to look at her. OH MY.   That started a little whirlwind trip to the emergency vet in Kansas City.   Her face was HUGELY swollen, she didn't look so good.   Lexi held her and I drove .... thankful the vet on duty did not charge for the exam.   It is normally $80.00. The receptionist said that she is one of the vets who do not charge for the exam for this sort of problem out of professioinal courtesy. Awesome!   We only had to pay for the meds.   She is doing better today. I don't think I can handle the loss of another dog just yet ... if ever. =0)

My co-workers will both be on leave starting tomorrow and Wednesday -- so it shall be busy here. I'm thrilled.

For some reason, it has been a particularly long week. I have a work event tonight, and the overtime is helpful but I really don't want to work .... start at 0700 am and don't get home till about 9 or 930 pm.

One seriously LONG day.

Taking ALL the dogs to the vet tomorrow for shots .... Lexi and I are that is! There's Sammy, Mini, Rocko and Cat. Then Trixi and Shadow.   We are seriously taking two cars ... Sammy is a moose.

Pray for Lexi -- I knew the new office where she works would have some drama -- I worked there for a while and the top reason I LEFT.   I guess two ladies have been giving her a particular rough time. Making her look like she doesn't know anything in front of customers, and constantly making sure she has customers -- when they really need to worry about themselves.   That kind of harassment is not fun.   She should probably call them on it -- but she has a quiet spirit -- her chain of command needs to take care of that. It's miserable working in an environment like that -- and this is a government work environment -- there are regulations and laws governing this type of nonsense. A simple, if you don't knock it off, then I'm writing you up should get their attention.   At our office, one man does that to one of the other ladies -- he never EVER says a kind word, its always a put down or a snotty answer, if he actually even does answer her. I know he's been told, but they've never actually done anything ... and so it continues. But like I told her, unless you do something and go higher, then don't complain.   I had one incident and it got ugly, but its not happened again.   I didn't back down -- and he ended up looking like a fool in front of a ton of people. There is no way I am putting up with that on a daily basis. So, keep her in your prayers that everything settles down. She said she had a GREAT day yesterday ... and that's because the lady wasn't there. {sigh} SAD.

Our driveway seriously needs some help .... ruts and mud. I've called for some estimates, it needs to be done. We've found if you let the little stuff go in the house, it turns into BIG things and then you have a nightmare of a house.

Hub has one more week of work and then he's off to his new position!   He's a lot closer to home and is glad he can stop at the church for prayer before and/or after or even during lunch.   It's much easier to prayer at our church then home ... after Stephen graduates I hope to incooperate a trip there every morning, or start my walking in the morning (once things dry up!) and I pray as I go. NO DISTRACTIONS.   =0)

The doctor ordered an X-Ray, EKG on Wednesday -- and also a stress test. I am waiting for the call to get that done. I also start physical therapy on my arm on Tuesday. It's been hurting pretty bad and limited in movement and strength.   Thankfully its right here at the local VA Medical Center, and the therapist is a certified lymphodema specialist. No more hour drives ...

Today is a pretty significant day for me ... and there are many ... but this is one of the BIG ones.

One year ago today, I went to KU Medical Center for a mammogram .... this day and those following changed my ENTIRE world.

My thoughts, my cares, my health, my friendships, my relationships with people .... everything ... even some of my worst nightmares came to life after this date ...

I came to realize that the ONLY one you can depend on ever is the Lord.

My relationship with Him changed after this ... but all for the good.

I could NOT have made any steps forward without the strength He gave me.

I realized I am a lot tougher than I ever thought I was.

I still wish people would think before talking to me about some things -- it still hurts, its not even been six months since surgery.

Headed back to the doctor today ...

And one thing that hasn't changed is, that I still covet your prayers and am very thankful for them.

While I didn't have a lot of tangible support ... I am very glad for the prayers.

Missing Taco today.   He's still close to my heart .... hasn't been 4 months yet ...

Happy Monday!   {eyeroll} So didn't want to go to work today ... when I am motivated to get things done at the house like this morning .... here I am at work.

Busy week this week, lots of things on the agenda.

The seller for the house, offered to pay up to $2940. in closing costs. How awesome is that?   God has been blessing my son.   He is a cheerful giver -- at times puts me to shame, and those twice his age. =)

I think my stress must still be somewhere off the charts. {sigh}   I wonder why life sometimes can't be just easy.   Would covet your prayers for our family. And yes, I do know it could be much worse. And I'm thankful it is not!

Stephen came with me to my appointment yesterday.   So thankful for that, kept my mind busy on the long drive there. He {obviously} doesn't come in the exam, but his prescence was a comfort to me.

Dr. Shwaiki is just an outstanding guy. I'm thankful that I was directed to him since that is the way things panned out. He is funny. He wasn't feeling good at all, but he was thorough as always.

No scans or anything like that, so In Jesus Name all is still clear. God knows.   I do go for a PET Scan in May. I don't have to see him again until then, unless something is going on.

He told me that my case/cancer had him mad and crazy!   It wasn't the norm. He did say that it ended up being littler than he thought and that he was much happier in the end with everything. I think he expected it to spread / or have already done so last year.   But, our FIRST prayer was that God would contain it.

Cancer doesn't just get cut out -- it doesn't work like that at all ... and unless you've had to deal with it you probably don't know. I always "thought" it was just a matter of cutting it out, but its not.
But we believe that God did contain it -- tumor, cells and all.

It is truly a walk by faith. It was before, but now its just so much more apparent.

We didn't get the answer we wanted from a certain situation .. which stinks ... but I know the Lord knows and has something better.

Someone (s?) acquired our debit card information and managed to charge some things to our account. I am thrilled. NOT.   It's been a great week, but can I be like ... done already??/

The kids didn't have anything for lunch today -- so I made a pan of those Pizza Cups in about 15 minutes, start to finish. Super EASY.

They decided that the cheapy Aldi biscuits are better than the Grand's.   Last time we used the Reduced Fat Wheat (because I had them from a coupon) but I took one bite to try them. Nope.    This is a pretty good low-fat lunch as well.   I didn't take any today and left it all for them, but I am thinking I should make a few pans full and pop them in the freezer and they would be an ideal snack and/or lunch options at a decent price.

I'll try to get a photo next time!

P.S.   I go see Dr. Shwaiki tomorrow -- and the stress begins. LOL! Thanks for your prayers!

The auction was interesting, the auctioneer egged another guy on to bid more, but the kids did get the high bid. Now they wait to see if the bank accepts the offer.   If something is major wrong with the house, then we're hoping they will reject it, but otherwise, let's do this!   It's a great little house for them.   Well, not that little, but 1544 sq ft.   2 car garage, 2 baths, laundry room, 3 bedrooms and an extra sitting room.

Snowed a bunch yesterday, so all is white out there. Late start for federal employees on post ...

No school for the boy.

I started the Tortilla Soup in the crockpot and have a pot of spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove. Will freeze some for future use.

I've been feeling pretty good lately, and I give God all the glory for it!   I see Dr. Shwaiki this week ... but all will be well.    IJN!

I didn't keep to the plan that much -- mainly because I was a little lazy and ended up going somewhere Wednesday, so I left them to fend for themselves after cooking some fries and turkey sausage.

I thought I'd just make a list of meals I can make and then decide that day or the night before -- most times its what I do anyway. I have all these in the pantry. Its a good week to use my budget to stock up on cereal and or other things that are a great price.

More snow is on the horizon .. JOY.

Shredded Chicken Tacos -- Chili's Style

Homemade Chicken Enchiladas -- I read this tip where you spray the corn tortillas with PAM Spray and then put them in the oven to crisp up. Going to try that.

Pizza Cups -- I thought this would be good to have in the fridge for them to heat up for snacks/lunches.

Lemon Pepper Tilapia, Rice, Salad and Veggies (going to have fish once a week from NOW on.)

Roast in the Crockpot (will put in crockpot for ease ...)

Tortilla Soup (won't use oil to saute the veggies/chiles though)

I'm also going to try a new recipe for Fried Rice, I will let you know if that comes out good. Also going to cook a pot of black beans to put in the freezer -- I LOVE black beans. Yumo.

Have put an offer on a house ... we are praying if the Lord wills, He will open the door.
It goes to auction this Friday, so its cutting it close. It's a SUPER DEAL for a great house in a great neighborhood. Basically they will be paying 1/2 of what it sold for in 2006. Which is awesome.
It doesn't need anything major -- the furnace works great -- but we don't know about the air conditioning because obviously it wasn't on! It's a foreclosure, but someone put care and love into that house.

Josh has been a 'cheerful giver' to say the least, and the Lord is blessing them.

The back of the house backs up to a farm/field. When you turn down the street its the last house in the cul de sac. It has an odd layout, but it's perfect for them. Please pray with us if the Lord wills, the door will open. Thank you!

Dr. Shwaiki's office called me yesterday, how that man remembers what he does is amazing. He wants to see me...so I go next Thursday. Here I thought I had another month, but .... In Jesus Name all is well.

I guess the Lord wanted Katie-Bug home with him. =) Katie passed away earlier today, and I know my friend Michelle and Jack are heartbroken. I think that would be putting it mildly.

Doctor Day ...

Headed to see the Radiation Doctor today -- I haven't been to the doctor since December 23rd.
(except for the scans on the 30th ...)

My hub is going with me for moral support ... I need it.

I don't go back and see the oncologist until March 23rd or so. He wants to see me every 3 months.
I've been taking those super dose Vitamin D pills, so I hope that level is better. It's one of the after/side effects of chemo.     I will do scans every 6 months for a while...

Believing and trusting God.   My friend Michelle told me something that I'd forgotten. Thanks Sis!
"You know I don't believe in luck good or bad or fate either. Life is just life good and bad and it rains on the just and unjust."    I guess I just need to get over it, and realize people just don't think... =)

Overwhelmed ....

...feeling a little overwhelmed (again!) -- not sure what brings it on, except possibly not feeling well.
I have these "new" pains/twinges throughout my body, well, I've had them since the surgery and they always scare me. {sigh} I had them before the PET scan and MRI -- but they let doubt creep in.

I'd just like to go through the day without worrying and stressing. I didn't sleep well thanks to my brain not turning off and the dogs wanting out at 0130 and 0330. Of course when I left this morning, they were all curled up in the bed asleep. {eye roll}

Things are quiet at work right now, which is okay. My work place isn't perfect (by far) but in hearing how things at other people's, makes me thankful for where I am. Plus the added benefit of meeting about 125 people a year and calling them friends, and being considered a friend by them.

Heard from a past Sri Lankan officer and he posted a photo of Jason, Noah and I with him and his wife on facebook. His caption "Some of the best human beings I have ever met in my life." What an honor, he is a pretty awesome human being himself.

Katie doesn't have congestive heart failure (thank you Lord!) but she does have a bad case of pneumonia. I told Josh what happened, he said "That's because of prayer, God changed the outlook." Amen to that.

He also answered a prayer (MANY prayers) about a missing passport. Yup, our (U.S.) state department visa office lost it; at least for a while, it amazingly showed up after being missing for about 7-8 weeks. Thanks Lord.

Stephen decided he wanted to move to Austria because of the snow (for snowboarding) -- I told him, I think in the grand scheme of the country, if the people that live there DON'T want to live there but move here, you might want to rethink that thought.

We found a home for one of the two Great Pyrenees we have. How heartbreaking. And yes, I am a sucker. Even my hub said he looked totally bummed about leaving. He has been together with his mom his entire life and now he gets shipped off to an 80 acre farm in the middle of nowhere. But he was impossible to keep in and the neighbors didn't much care for that. Of course, the mom carried on last night missing him. Poor babies. If you don't think animals "feel" sadness and grief, you can just keep that opinion to yourself. I've witnessed it -- and frankly don't care if you don't think they do. THEY DO ANYWAY. {grin} They really are loveable dogs -- very very sweet.

Nothing much going on -- my vacuum quit working, so that has to go in the shop for repair. I vacuum everyday with the animals and the boys that live in my house. Hub cleaned the carpet in the hallway for me last night. Thanks Babe!!

I was working on a baby blanket for a sister in our church -- and I hate the fabric! Ugh. Needless to say, I didn't make much progress. I was so frustrated; I just folded it up and put it back in the bag.

If you "do" facebook, you may have seen those iHearts that are sent. They have all kinds of them. Well, someone I know must have received one from someone -- it was a Breast Cancer Awareness one. I don't send that particular one, I am well aware of breast cancer and don't care to be reminded, although others really need to be aware that it can touch anyone. No one is exempt, young or old. Male of female. If I had been "aware" I was at a greater risk since I had fibrous breast, I definitely wouldn't have put off my appointment by a month after finding the lump and thinking it was just another cyst. They don't tell you that and THEY SHOULD. OK -- off that tangent.

I don't mind receiving them either -- because I have a few in my iHeart area. To me it just means they were thinking of me -- and that's awesome (and appreciated). Well, in this particular case she posted it to her wall, and put something to the affect "it makes me know or think how lucky I am".
Not sure why that "hit home" -- but it did. Josh said that needs to be put on the fail booker site. (He's been a huge support to me) I don't think I am unlucky because of that stupid cancer, I don't think that the Lord loves me any less because of it. He will use it for His glory. And I don't think you are lucky because you didn't get breast cancer yet or ever. Luck doesn't have a thing to do with it.

I don't know -- it was just like a slap in the face to me, although I know she didn't even think of me when she wrote that. Yesterday was one of those times, when I wanted to go through my "friends" list and hit the X.
I mean just like coming here and reading stuff you don't want to read, then just don't come to my blog. It's all a choice. It's your choice, just as its my choice. I need to choose NOT to read those things that bring me down, cause me to hurt and ache and be afraid. Just like not reading those blogs about cancer -- the bad ones -- the good encouraging ones == well sure. So -- debating to delete just for the sake of sanity, but I imagine feelings will be hurt in the course of things. Of course, it matters not if mine were.

I think I rambled enough -- if you would, please continue to remember me in prayer. My prayer is that the Lord would bless you for that!!

I'm sure they used a bunch of oil, but I put all of those ingredients in a big pan sprayed with Pam and after cooking for a while added some water and a teaspoon of the Better than Brouillon Chicken Base.   Even Stephen ate a bunch!

Really love the song below. Most of that is my heart regarding souls ... at times I fail miserably but I do believe that people really need the Lord.

I have NO CLUE what I would have done if I didn't have the Lord to lean on during the past year. I do not know how people do it. I would have been a basket case, don't get me wrong, it wasn't easy by any means and I have my "melt down" moments -- but my strength truly came from the Lord. It continues to this day.

Lexi did get that awesome job -- we were all a little shocked about the hourly wage!   It was about $3.00 more than they quote at first with good health benefits and a 401K plan. So Josh and Lexi have awesome jobs now. Going to take care of a few piddly medical bills and work on their house. They really need to live somewhere around our town because he works 30 minutes one way and she works the other direction.
They are so thankful to the Lord for this opportunity! I'm so glad that they realize where the thanks belongs. Lexi does get to work with a sister in our church so that is just an added bonus. The ladies at her current job weren't always very nice to her. She is a pretty meek person -- I don't like it when people treat her unkindly. She's had enough of that in life. People just need to get a life.

There's been a lot of talk about unity in our church. Unity and trust walk hand in hand.   We all need to work on trust ... hard to walk in unity with someone that you aren't trusting of.   Hard.   Been there. Won't do that again.

I made a baby blanket for one of the international officer's.   His wife had a baby girl on December 30th.
They are from the UK and he came right after my cancer diagnosis and beginning "bald" days.   I don't know if he was warned ahead of time, but when they came in our office -- I never saw that in their eyes.   No disgust, no pity -- no alien looks. None of that. I didn't forget and I appreciated it so. Anytime I've had the chance to help him, I've gone above and beyond that.   He needed help getting his daughter added to his orders and I helped him get it done in less than 2 hours. He said I was her "fairy godmother". LOL
So I made her a "cinderella" blanket. It really touched them -- a drop if kindness goes far beyond we can ever think or dream.   I get to meet her next week when I am sure I am over this sickness/cold.   No cooties for Annabel.   =)   Good people.

Have two more in the works for two special little boys!

I'm not saying everyone had that look -- but so many did.

Not much plans for this weekend, Kansas City tomorrow ... hoping to get Josh and Lexi to take us to Cheddar's to celebrate. A Ladies' Valentine Tea at church on the 13th and my hub turns the big "50"

Interesting weeks ...

I have had an interesting couple of weeks -- work has been busy because a new class just arrived and getting all that completed makes you brain tired on top of the long days and evening events.

I got a little careless with germs, so I am fighting a cold. But thankfully that's all it is. I don't feel too whoopy. I need to get tires put on tomorrow morning and then I think I will chill at home for the rest of the weekend and get some rest.

We are supposed to get more cold weather and possibly snow on Sunday. Everything is already grey, wet and muddy as it is.

I've become a "fairy godmother" in the last few weeks, I have been "cursed" by a woman who needs the Lord. Her words are nothing because she has no power behind it. I am still working around the anger part of it.  Not sure what I will do when I meet her face to face again. People need to look in their own backyard before they start worrying about what is in someone else's.

My co-worker has decided to stay with our organization, so I was glad of that. No changes there.

My Level 1 Certification was approved for my job.   I did the course while going through chemo -- and it was doubly hard -- because I did have some chemo brain to deal with. I'm glad that's over.   I won't be eligible for Level II unless I have a bachelor's. I have an associates and lots of credits over that but I am not willing or wanting to put the money towards that right now.   It's definitely not a need.

Our mudroom wall had a fire in it -- an electrical fire -- so thankful that it ended up being a small thing rather than a HUGE thing.   I may want a "nicer" house but not at the expense of losing life or memorable stuff.

... working on decluttering ... the last 8 months are really a blur and most things got put to the back burner. I had to just let a lot of things go. I just couldn't physically handle much of it. I'm still struggling with not feeling well. It scares me a bit. But I am trusting God. I think all the damp weather is a major factor.   We haven't seen the sun for days.

Lexi had a job interview on Thursday -- its one she has been waiting almost a year for. Please pray that the Lord opens the door on that. That would be just awesome.

Roy turned 50 on Valentine's Day -- need to make plans for that!   He's been a huge help to me. Last night he helped me clean out fridge, wash dishes, fold clothes and sweep...I didn't feel great but I so wanted it cleaned up a bit. Lexi was babysitting so she was gone and I had been gone the last 2 nights for work.

Not much else going on .... met some really neat new international officers.   I really love that part of my job.

I ended up making Buffalo Chicken Casserole on Thursday since I had everything.
It was pretty yummy!   I didn't do the bleu cheese though, low-fat Ranch is more our style. I just drizzled a bit on. Good stuff.

I am now totally out of my free/close to free canned organic tomatoes. I had a BUNCH thanks to coupons, but that one used my last can. Wish there were coupons out there like that again!!

Hub gets a three-day weekend (for a change) then goes to 9am-6pm work shift. Stinks. He is applying out of that post office.   Pray the Lord opens a door close to home -- or wherever His will is.

Our mudroom refrigerator bit the dust -- I think we bought that new in 1988 so it lasted a long time. We definitely need to find another, we keep extra milk in there that doesn't fit in the inside one.   Probably Craigs List will be our friend for this.   It would have helped to check the breaker. what a WASTE. Had a fire in the wall in there too!   Everytime hub is scheduled to teach at church -- things get stirred up.

Here's what I plan on making -- not sure what day for each, but at least I know what I have and can make that. I like to eat out with the rest of you, but its so expensive to do that all the time.

I plan to get back into couponing and stocking up on sales.

Beef Stew in the Crockpot

I personally do not care for beef stew with a brown sauce. {shudder} I grew up with beef stew in a red/tomato sauce, so that is how I cook it.

Beef stew meat (or cheap round steak/leftover roast)
1 small onion, diced
6 potatoes (I had red on hand)
1 bag mini carrots
3 stalks celery
salt, pepper, italian seasoning, garlic powder
1 large can tomato sauce
1 bag frozen mixed vegetables

Brown meat and diced onion in a frying pan on the stove.
Peel (or don't peel), but wash potatoes and cut in large chunks
Cut carrots and celery into eatable pieces.

Put everything in the crockpot except for the frozen veggies. Cook on low all day. About 30 minutes prior to serving, add the frozen veggies and heat through.
Serve with crusty bread, or bread sticks.

You can add a can of beef broth if you like. I usually don't but just rinse out the pan from the meat with a little water and put that in the crockpot.

A little throw off my Tortellini Soup and Pasta E Fagoli -- but I didn't have everything to make either.

1 pound ground beef or turkey, cooked and crumbled.
1 small onion, diced
2 teaspoons minced garlic
3 stalks celery, diced
1.5 cups of so of diced carrots.

1 large can tomato juice
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can red kidney beans, undrained.

I cooked the meat, then rinsed and drained all the fat off. Return to pot and cook with onion and garlic for 4 minutes. Add remaining ingredients. Let simmer for about 30-45 minutes until vegetables are tender.

In another post, cook small pasta. You can add the pasta directly to the soup pot after cooked, but we always add a scoop to the bowl and ladle the soup over. I don't like it when the pasta absorbs all the liquid when there are leftovers. Yuck.

Serve with Parmesan cheese, and crusty bread for a good meal.

My husband never complains about what he eats, but also very rarely says anything -- but he asked if this was a recipe -- he really liked it. We will definitely throw this together again.

Absolutely LOVE The Chickens in the Road blog! She did write fiction before moving to her farm but she makes her living through writing. We can relate to a lot of her learning -- especially how to make a fire in a wood stove!

I was truly trying to be patient about the test results, but the last two days have been stressful. That's putting it mildly. I try to stay strong for everyone else. Jason at work probably sees me at my weakest most days ... I'm thankful he puts up with me. I think we were both stressing about the call today!!

Thanks Jason! I could never repay you for all your support and putting up with me.

MRI on the brain done, and for those who wondered, Yes there IS a brain inside my skull.

PET Scan done -- they inject radioactive glucose in your vein ... nice ... surely I will start to glow a bright green color here shortly. Which proves sugar isn't any good for you.

And now the wait begins ... hate waiting for news.   Even though I am hoping and believing for good things. We've seen the hand of the Lord throughout this entire trial ...  my faith is weak. It's been a rough road ... and I am praying this is the end of it.

I will see the doctor every 3 months, his request. Scans every 6 months. {sigh} But by the grace of God they will all be clear ... starting this morning ...

3 inches of snow hit us this morning ... it was an interesting drive to St. Luke's.   I need tires. Bad.

I have to go pick out glasses and get Stephen his replacement lenses.   I have that crud that is going around -- went to bed about 630 last night ... thanks to my vitamin regiment, its not as bad as some of my friends. Ugh.

Our neighbor plowed the drive again ... what a blessing! Time to get some cleaning done while I feel like it before we brave the elements~!    Thanks as always, for your prayers.

Josh and Lexi got dad the Motorola Cliq -- for a combined birthday and Christmas gift, but to get the great price they ordered it online and it didn't make it for Christmas .. so Josh made a box!

My birthday cake ... dad said that was more fitting a saying after this year.

I've decided that it doesn't matter how much life is crazy right now (or ever!), it's always better to have a plan.

Starting to get a little nervous about all this, not so much the testing but the results. {sigh} My co-worker this morning asked me how hard was it really on you to face all those appointments alone? In a way it made me sad that I didn't have anyone to rely on fully to go with me. Roy would go with me for the most part, but work stands in the way. No supervisor -- she's on vacation last week and this one. He asked if I had a friend that I could confide in with everything, and I shrugged and said that I did not. I have the Lord of course, and I imagine He gets tired of me too. I don't really think I'm an unfriendly person -- I had close friends in Colorado that I did stuff with them all the time and they were at my house 3-4 times a week. I don't know maybe the Lord decided I needed to just depend on Him during this trial. I'm a little scared today but keep reminding and quoting scriptures and the promises of the Lord to myself. IJN!

Machine Broke!

(sigh) Would have just as soon get it over with. Please pray I can get this done by 12/31/2009 -- so I don't have any payments due for the procedures. IJN! (Also pray for clear scans!!) Believing and trusting the Lord for that.

Doc Visit Update

Radiation went well -- it usually does. They gave me a graduation certificate and a prayer shawl for healing. I'll scan a photo in later this evening.

Got my prosthesis and two bras!! Awesome. Those things are heavy and they are the ultra light? Woah.

Then went to see Dr. Shwaiki. He's still as quirky as ever. The short of it, is I do a full Pet Scan on Monday morning at 0730 sharp and a brain MRI on Wednesday morning. This isn't a precautionary thing, he wants to make sure it didn't spread. For a lot of reasons, which I'll write about later. I've not had a pet scan before -- more information can be found here. Pray its clear!

I'm handling things okay -- believing and trusting God. IJN!

Extra prayers can't hurt.

December 23rd

OK -- taking deep breaths here ... that kick in the gut feeling is back. Hate it.

Off to last Radiation Treatment at 1100 -- I will be in treatment at 1145.

Then off to see Dr. Shwaiki -- I know he won't check/do scans and such. But just the thought of going and not knowing ... its scary.

Another appointment alone.   That has been one of the worst parts of this journey.

Then I go and get fitted for the prosthesis ... the insurance will cover that in full. (before Dec 31st!)

Have to get onions ... to make spaghetti sauce.     Come home and clean up a bit -- dusting and such. I will wash all the floors tomorrow morning. Its been raining so keeping them clean should be a joy. Dogs and rain and mud don't go together well.

We have church service tonight. I will make a last run to the stores tomorrow morning... after checking my lists and checking them twice ...

Pray for me ... my heart is heavy today.   My spirit is disturbed.   {sigh}

My Radiation Oncologist

is definitely one awesome lady. I've been blessed to be under her care. Not only her medical care, but her care for me as a patient. She said I did awesome, and wants me to be their poster child! LOL! I told her I need hair first.

I have 2 more treatments ... then go see her in about a month to see how everything is healing.

She told me to tell Dr Shwaiki thank you for sending me to her, she is just so nice. I got 2 hugs from her today. I told her she was awesome -- she loves what she does and it shows.

She was named one of Kansas City's top doctors in 2006. These I guess are voted on by other health professionals, which I think tells you a lot. You can read the article here.

It's a little scary to be at this point. No treatments after Wednesday. I am the type of person who HAS to do something.

Truly I have to leave my life in the Lord's hands, not keep putting it there and taking it back. Again and again.

Ya know, there is no cure for cancer.

That's a sobering thought.

I never thought that I would be at this place in life.

I wondered yesterday if that lump they found in 2003 was actually cancer and God healed it.

In that case, this is my reoccurrence. Scary thought. But if God can heal me once, He can heal me a thousand times.

I probably shouldn't have scheduled my appointment with Dr. Shwaiki this week, I already have too much on my mind and heart. I kind of chuckle at people for getting so dramatic over their simple trials. I kind of wonder what they'd do if they actually had a horrific trial. But I guess to them its horrific. There are definitely worse trials than this cancer was. Most definitely. Josh seems to be going through it ... I think we all get fought as we walk with the Lord. Guess that means we are doing something right, huh? The enemy has no need to fight with someone who isn't right.

I turn 44 on Friday ... and am thankful for those 44 years. The Lord truly has been good to me. My mom had me when she was 44 ... so this year a lot of dates and numbers go together. I had my surgery on September 23rd, which is when my husband was filled with the Holy Ghost. My last chemo treatment was August 12th, my mom's birthday.

See Dr. Lindstrom today and RT # 31 .... going to try and finish some last minute stuff and make some cookie trays for co-workers, hub's, Lexi and Josh's work ... we'll see.

Appreciate, as always your prayers as I journey into life without seeing doctors every day ...

On the Home Stretch ...

Feeling a little melancholy ... 4 more treatments and I am finished.

A little scared now.   Ok, A LOT scared now.

My life and health have always truly been in the hands of the Lord.

It's so much more so during this season of life. Well more of a daily thought, because our lives are in His hands.

To God be the glory ... thank you Lord for carrying me and walking with me during this past year. Thank you for strength and the desire to take one more step when I didn't feel I could go on.

Christmas is Coming! (Thankful Thursday)

Still have a few things on my list ... not much.

Stephen was sick during the night last night. I heard him calling me about 0150. He wanted his dad to come upstairs and pray for him. He is having those stomach pains, chills, fever, sweating again. Ugh. He always has a lot of "gas" and belches alot but they checked that one stomach problem and it came back negative. Hub is taking him to the doctor today, please keep him in prayer.   We want to find out what the problem is and get it cleared up.   He has 3 finals today and is plugging through them.   My co-worker's wife is at the hospital right now, please pray for her as well.

RT # 29 is today ... 5 left. These last 5 target the scar only with a different type of radiation. I finish on Dec 23rd.   I'm so glad. I'm tired of the daily treks.   Today under my arm is a little sore -- like its burnt. But thankfully the Lord put the effects to a minimum.

Tomorrow is our Annual Christmas Dinner with the church family. Work here has one too, but I'll probably skip it depending on how Stephen is.   I can only do so much and keep sane. =)

I plan on making easy stuff, Tator Tot Casserole (figuring the kids would like it); Sugar Cookie Bars and my recipe for Banana Pudding.   That was requested. Actually they requested I make 3 batches.

Going to have a cookie/sweet making party on Saturday with Lexi and Sarai.    A few errands in the morning and the rest of the day spent doing Christmas stuff.

Our Christmas menu is:   Baked Ham, Twice Baked Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Homemade Rolls, Veggies, Nana's Apple Salad and dessert. We'll probably do an antipasto tray, since we usually do that.

Treats:   Chocolate Covered Pretzels, Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Pops, Peppermint Bark, Cut Out Cookies, Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies; Chocolate Chip Cookies, Chocolate Crinkles (Alot of this will be given away too!) Homemade Snicker Bar Candy

Thankful we did find a good home for Koko -- not the one I'd hoped but I believe a good one.

My Co-Workers

I work events that the college hosts for the international officers. There was a Holiday Dinner Dance that last two Fridays. (One for each class!)   I usually stay 3 hours and roll home. Here is a photo that Jason's wife took last Friday.   I skipped the scarf in favor of a crocheted beanie type hat for this night. Still needing lots of hair to go without.

The Nutcracker was super!   I wish I knew more of the story before we arrived. Beautiful dancers.
It was a pretty packed auditorium.   Stayed out way past my bedtime.

The hub gets to work every day the next two weeks so his supervisor can take vacation. Joy.

Nice visit with the Radiation Oncologist - Dr. Lindstrom. She's awesome. She asked me if I wanted a month off, or even two weeks to give myself a break. It would be nice, that there are two main issues with that. The leave issue and I wouldn't do that to my co-worker with a new class coming on Jan 2nd. He's been here for me this year, taking up a lot of my slack. No way. She understood that. Honestly, I could probably use it.   You can only go on light speed for some long.

The area looks amazingly. The Lord has kept the damage/skin irritation to a bare minimum. I saw another lady's that was there by her neck ... it wasn't pretty. Plus she was talking about helping with the bandages to her husband.   Doc even gave me a hug at the end. Super nice lady. They've all been great to me.

I see Dr. Shwaiki on the 23rd of December. My Radiation graduation date! IJN only good news.

We lost one of the goats yesterday ... (sigh) ... it was the colored female. Females are worth more to us than the males. Not sure if it was just the cold. She didn't act sick before -- how sad.   Hub put up tarps to close them in from the wind. We have heaters, but we are afraid of fire out there.

We found a new home for the puppy we called Koko. He now has a new name of Spike. He has a home with a mom, dad and 2 little boys.   Glad for that. Here's a photo of him, isn't he cute?

The puppies do NOT like the cold.   I bundle up and take them out and stay out there with them or else they are crying at the door before doing their business.

We went to see the Christmas Pageant at Raytown Baptist Church on Saturday.
One word: AWESOME. If there were any more performances, I'd go again. Amazing. Definitely on the list for 2010.

Tonight is: The Nutcracker!! Going with Sis H and Sarai will be there with a couple of her friends. Lexi works it. So the ladies are going.   Can't wait!!

Busy week -- no menu plan on paper, but I do have one in my head. Thursday night will be spent cooking for the Annual Christmas Dinner/Potluck on Friday evening. Doing easy stuff, but it will be plentiful I could never just bring cokes or sliced bread!   LOL!   I enjoy making it (most of the time)
Saturday morning will be last minute stuff -- and then cooking baking at the house the rest of the evening.

I remember this morning, I need to pick up something for Judy and the bus-driver and a teacher that Stephen adores. =)   Any suggestions??? The teacher is an art teacher.   I wish I remembered when I was in KC on Saturday.

Stephen just texted -- he got a perfect score on his Algebra final. He is doing amazing with his grades this semester.

Better get to work -- lots to catch up on. RT today -- #27!!!

A family in our church lost their brother in a horrible accident. He was only 19 years old, all his siblings are younger than he. They are truly inconsolable. Please, please pray for this family. I can't imagine, and don't want to. My heart hurts for them, we've known the younger children since they were babies. How can I help them?? Besides praying without ceasing...

Just checking in -- been busy at work and it's wearing me out. So, aside from things I have to get done, everything else is on the "hold" pile.

Done with 19 treatments, number 20 today. 13 to go which actually equals 2 1/2 weeks more. I will be done on the 23rd of December. Right before Christmas/Birthday. That's a good present. I have to see my onocologist this month -- so praying for a clean bill of health. No, thanking God for one. Amen.

Puppies are growing ... one more needs a home. A forever home. He's a good one too! He has a great personality. Cute markings too. We just can't keep all of them.

I think I need a few days off -- I'm beyond tired and I am so stressed at work -- it isn't good for anyone.
But graduation is next week and then the new class arrives. {sigh}

Menu Plan Monday -- Busy Week Ahead

Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving Holiday. We spent the day Sarai's house -- and my hub said that was the best turkey he ever had. =) Sarai injected it with spices and marinade -- it was yummy. It was different not being at home, but I didn't miss that routine all that much. Plus she has a dishwasher and we don't right now!   Kitchen remodel = 2010!

Busy days at work the next few weeks, with one class leaving and another arriving.
Monday and Tuesday will be spent at the warehouse preparing book shipments -- its a nice break from the office, but then you have to catch up. Then we are headed into the Christmas holidays. Lexi's birthday is Friday. I work Friday evening at the Holiday Dinner Dance... then next Friday there is another!! Wig time for sure. Ugh!

We decided its best to be a little laid back with Christmas gifts ... so we are pretty much done. I need to find something personal for Sarai and something for my hub -- and a few piddly things but that's all. I tried to get something that they can actually use -- instead of wasting money on something that will go in the trash or not be useful at all to the recipient. It's such a waste. I have to get tires on my car ... all those miles to the hospital Mon-Fri is wearing me out.   I have low-profile tires so that is not pretty.   And my car is acting funny so I need to get that checked. Eye appointments this week too!!   Always driving somewhere!

Since we have no turkey leftovers -- which is what I DO miss....it will be all new meal prep. But easy!!

Sunday -- Crockpot Roast w/Potatoes, Carrots & Onions, Leftover Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli, Fruit

Monday -- Pasta, Bread, Salad, Fruit

Tuesday -- New Chicken Dish I am going to try -- will post if good!

Wednesday -- Leftover Roast with gravy on noodles, veggie, fruit

Thursday -- Chicken Quesadillas, Veggie, Fruit

Friday -- I work, so they are on their own!!

There truly is much to be thankful for. I need to have a thankful attitude every day ... not just on Thanksgiving. And I really do ... I am thankful for the Lord Jesus Christ, His healing power and saving grace. Ya know, He chooses us, we do not choose Him. I thank Him for showing us the truth. There is not 50 forms of salvation, there is only ONE. One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism. Can't get any simpler than that.

He sacrificed for us, how come we can't sacrifice some wordly things for Him?
I am thank for one more day, my husband and kids. They've growing up and are now teaching me things.

They have no doubt that God is going to take care of this cancer and I am to be completely healed. I pray so. It's always been in His hands ... and it will continue to be.   I just need to leave it there.

I am thankful for all our material blessings ... for there are many.   Much more than we need.

Thankful for pets ... and friends ... Taco, Mini, Chipper, Cloudy and Sammy .... all the little pups. They ease your heart a bit, but don't take it all away. They are showing their own minds now.   I have 2 on my lap ... sitting here and they jump up and whine and bite your leg till you pick them up.

Thankful for a wonderful Pastor and wife ... a great church .... church family.

Good jobs when some have none.

Good health ... really ... there are those in much worse shape than I.

Caleb for knowing when you are down ...kids are amazing that way.   Jazz is just like that.

In no way shape or form do I compare the loss of a dog to the loss of a child -- but I do think telling someone what I stated in my previous post are among the top dumbest things you can tell someone.

Just want to clarify that -- its been a beyond stinky week for whatever reason. Life is just overwhelming in the Crook household, and rather than burden my hub or children, I vent here. I know the Lord will fight these battles, but if you know Michelle, you know how impatient I am. =) Add that to everything else ... to an unseemingly unending trial ... a mind that never shuts off .... and yeah welcome to my world.

And Lord, I am waiting to see how you fight this one ... my son gave me insight last night. I think he's got the right idea, I just need to get his attitude ...

this will not be an uplifting post but rather a way to express my frustrations!

I'm not sure if people are ~~just stupid~~ or they just don't think. Or both. Grrrr.

Ya know -- you don't just "get" another dog, sure you "get one", (maybe) but its not like its a fix to your grief and it solves everything. I'm sure there are dogs out there to love and they need a person to care for them. Ok, I KNOW that. But HELLO -- you don't just replace a friend. That's almost up there with, don't worry you can get another child or you can get another husband. I mean after all, you are able to have more children, so what's the problem?   ~~Stupid.~~ Ok --   they think they are helping. But, ya know I don't need that kind of help.

I could go on and say, oh you're trying to help now? Where were you the last 7 months? Gee, thanks for all your support.   Don't get me wrong, I didn't expect anything from anyone after the first few weeks. I realized that "expecting" was definitely wrong. It definitely gave me a new sense of worth (or unworth) to people and that everyone lives on their own island and wants you to help them, but to help someone else? Yeah. Not.

It's not been a good week. I'm not sure if its because my stress level is 852, when it should be 10. People thinking I am actually stupid to see behind what is really said. I'm not dumb, okay. And I'm definitely NOT an idiot.   Where did they get that idea from if they didn't get it from you? Why lie? Because make no mistakes it is a lie.

At work we have students who are flat out lying to you and they expect you to believe it!!

I love the "Well, I'm going to die from something?" Yeah, here let's switch our healths. {eyeroll}

And the ones who are super paranoid about having an ingrown toe nail. Get a grip, ok. God is much bigger than that. Trying living with the thought, that if this cancer comes back -- you're dead. How's that in a nutshell?

And yes, I've already complained to the Lord. Cried with frustration about my lot in life. I'm sure He's sick of hearing that one.

But -- do me a favor, don't add to it. Don't peg me for an idiot while you are at it. I'd rather you just left me alone. I'll pray for you, should you come to mind. Make no mistakes. I HAVE to be ready. Knowing what I know, I have to be. And Heaven ain't worth people acting ~~like idiots~~ foolish.

It's a little sad to see some of Taco's personality come out in them ... but bittersweet really is the right word.

I'm thankful for the time we had with Taco and thankful for his babies when at first we were not happy at all that Mini was having pups.

Today .. the year 2009? ... has been particularly trying to say the least.

I am beyond tired ... been doing lots of thinking -- mind battles mostly, thinking of just giving up. Tired.

Weary of the battles ... they seem constant.

Work was horrid -- we've been gone for 3 days and they decide we need to have a 90 minute at 0830.
{eyeroll} Then they tell us we will have to compete for our job ... nice. I gave up a promotion last year because this job was said to be getting one.   I do know it was the right decision -- because I know I would not have gotten the support at the other job with the whole cancer thing.

At church last night -- God moved in a mighty way. Another sister in our church has cervical cancer. Cancer sucks. It robs you and steals things from you. She was getting prayed for and I could feel it all the way over where I was. Woah.   I went to pray with her -- and you know what went through my mind? Because I could feel her pain, I knew her struggles, I knew her fears, I knew the overwhelming crushing blows she felt ... because I had felt the same things. I thanked God for that. Without the cancer, I wouldn't have been able to relate in such an intimate way. God is going to do amazing things through this ... if I could just get through it all ... but I will. I'm tough. The Lord made me tough.

My co-worker will be leaving as soon as the door opens ... I want to pray that God will not allow it to open, but it pains me to see him so unhappy. He deserves better. {sigh}

Who knows, I may not even qualify for my own job?? LOL   Now that would be a hoot!
